On September 7th, 2023, I made my debut at New York Fashion Week through the Supima Fashion competition. My collection, "Raíces Sin Tiempo," consisted of five evening wear looks crafted exclusively from Supima cotton. Drawing inspiration from Chicana futurism, a term coined by Catherine Ramirez, the collection melds elements of science fiction with traditional Mexican craftsmanship.
By delving into the enduring essence of culture across time and space, this collection pays homage to the endeavors made to comprehend and safeguard the richness of Mexican culture.
These garments incorporate the geometric patterns seen in hojalateria and huichol art, while drawing inspiration from the vibrant hues and textures found in Mexican corn. Simultaneously the silhouettes reference movies classic sci-fi movies like Things to Come 1936, Tron, and Forbidden Planet 1956.
